ΣΑΒΒΑΤΟ 7/10 20:30 Being the cat on the edge of the roof (Nurtane Karagil)
Η Nurtane Karagil μας προσκαλεί στη στέγη της ΣΠΕΛ, στο Cloud, για να αντιδράσουμε στις σκέψεις και τις προκλήσεις μας, όπως μια γάτα που βρίσκεται στο χείλος του γκρεμού μιας στέγης.
Η Nurtane Karagil είναι εικαστική καλλιτέχνης που χρησιμοποιεί ένα ευρύ φάσμα καλλιτεχνικών μέσων, όπως ζωγραφική, illustration, γλυπτική, βίντεο και φωτογραφία. Η τέχνη της πραγματεύεται τη δύναμη της μνήμης, των ονείρων και των σουρεαλιστικών φαντασιώσεων σε αντιπαράθεση με καταστάσεις της καθημερινής ζωής. Μέσω αυτής της αντίθεσης, προσκαλεί τον θεατή σε μια αλλόκοτη ζώνη όπου τα όρια της πραγματικότητας είναι κάπως πιο ορατά.
Η εκδήλωση αποτελεί μέρος των δραστηριοτήτων που επιμελούνται οι Urban Gorillas στο πλαίσιο του ευρωπαϊκού προγράμματος Creative Rooftop Network, που συγχρηματοδοτείται από το πρόγραμμα Creative Europe.
ΤΕΤΑΡΤΗ 11/10 20:30 Sssssinema: Faggy Films as Archiving Tools (Queer Wave x Cerebral Gym)
Ο καλλιτεχνικός διευθυντής του Queer Wave Diego Armando Aparicio σε συνεργασία με το Cerebral Gym των Sessions σε επιμέλεια του Λοΐζου Ολύμπιου, θα παρουσιάσουν μια σειρά ταινιών που λειτουργούν ως εργαλεία για τη δημιουργία αρχείων - πραγματικών, φανταστικών, οργανωμένων, ακατάστατων. Οι προβολές Queer Wave x Cerebral Gym θα διαρκέσουν τους μήνες Οκτώβριο, Νοέμβριο και Δεκέμβριο του 2023. Οι προβολές θα πραγματοποιούνται την πρώτη Τετάρτη κάθε μήνα, με συνολικά τρεις επαναλήψεις, στις ημερομηνίες: 11 Οκτωβρίου / 8 Νοεμβρίου / 13 Δεκεμβρίου.

ΣΑΒΒΑΤΟ 14/10 20:30 BIRTHDAY: ALL MUSIC IS DANCE MUSIC
Καθώς τα Sessions ολοκληρώνουν το πρώτο τους ταξίδι γύρω από τον ήλιο από τα εγκαίνιά τους στη Σαπφούς 6, σας προσκαλούν σε μια ξεχωριστή επέτειο που θα γιορτάσουμε τη διάθεση για σκανταλιά και τη γοητευτική μαγεία που μας ένωσε. Παίρνοντας έμπνευση από τη δήλωση του Λοΐζου Ολύμπιου ότι "ALL MUSIC IS DANCE MUSIC", χρησιμοποιούμε τη φράση ως κατευθυντήρια αρχή για την επιμέλεια μοναδικών DJ sets, μιας ξεχωριστής περφόρμανς από την Michela Pelusio, το Space Time Helix, και γενέθλια τελετή από την Garilyn Monrose και Korallida.
Το SpaceTime Helix, ένα οπτικοακουστικό όργανο που σχεδιάστηκε και εκτελείται από την Michela Pelusio από το 2012, προσφέρει ένα site-specific οπτικοακουστικό θέαμα με ένα κολοσσιαίο περιστρεφόμενο κύμα μέσα σε μια λευκή χορδή, διαμορφώνοντας ένα εκτεταμένο ελικοειδές που εκτείνεται προς την οροφή. Η επιφάνεια, φωτεινή και ημιδιαφανής, προβάλλει κύματα που τη διασχίζουν και εξαφανίζονται στο μακρινό μέλλον, πέρα από τον χρόνο και τον χώρο. Μια λευκή χορδή, που στην αρχή είναι μια απλή γραμμή και όριο, μεταμορφώνεται σε ένα μνημειώδες, περιστρεφόμενο στάσιμο κύμα, ένα τεράστιο ελικοειδές που ενώνει το γήινο βασίλειο με το ουράνιο. Ενορχηστρώνει έναν χορό δονήσεων, μπλέκοντας το φυσικό με το μεταφυσικό, προκαλώντας οπτικές εντυπώσεις και συναισθησιακά ταξίδια για όσους παγιδεύονται μέσα στη δίνη του.
ΤΕΤΑΡΤΗ 18/10 19:00 Legally Queer vol 2 (Queer Collective Cy)
Το "Legally Queer" είναι μια πρωτοβουλία που επικεντρώνεται στη διερεύνηση του αντίκτυπου του νομοθετικού τοπίου στην ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ κοινότητα της Κύπρου. Αποστολή μας είναι να ενδυναμώσουμε τα ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ άτομα παρέχοντας προσιτές πληροφορίες για τα νομικά ζητήματα που επηρεάζουν την καθημερινή μας ζωή και τα θεμελιώδη δικαιώματά μας. Μέσω ενημερωτικών συζητήσεων, στοχεύουμε στην ενίσχυση της ευαισθητοποίησης, την αντιμετώπιση κοινών προκλήσεων και τη δημιουργία δεσμών εντός της κοινότητας.
Η πρωτοβουλία μας υπερβαίνει τα νομικά ζητήματα- δημιουργεί έναν χώρο για τα ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ άτομα να συνδεθούν και να μοιραστούν εμπειρίες. Ερχόμενοι μαζί, μπορούμε να οικοδομήσουμε μια συλλογική συνείδηση, αναδεικνύοντας κοινούς αγώνες και νίκες. Μέσω αυτών των αλληλεπιδράσεων, φιλοδοξούμε να καλλιεργήσουμε μια ισχυρότερη αίσθηση ενότητας και αλληλεγγύης εντός της κοινότητας. Το "Legally Queer" προσπαθεί να διευκολύνει τις ανοιχτές συζητήσεις, να προάγει την ευαισθητοποίηση και να ενισχύσει τους δεσμούς που μας ενώνουν ως ΛΟΑΤΚΙ+ άτομα στην Κύπρο.

Το “Leave your flesh at the door” είναι μια πρόσκληση σε ένα συλλογικό όνειρο. Γιατί το να ονειρεύεσαι είναι πάντα μια μοναχική πράξη, αλλά τι θα γινόταν αν περνούσαμε τη νύχτα μαζί; Η σκηνή γίνεται ένα κρεβάτι, αρκετά μεγάλο για όλους! Καθώς οι θεατές περιμένουν να τους
πάρει ο Ύπνος, γίνονται μάρτυρες μιας σειράς γεγονότων, όπου αναδύεται ένας κόσμος αντιφάσεων, καταπιεσμένων επιθυμιών και φαντασίας.

SAT 28/10 16:00 Rooftop Stories: Reimagining Sustainable Urban Living (Urban Gorillas)
Οι Urban Gorillas προσκαλούν το κοινό να αλληλεπιδράσει με τη χωρική εγκατάσταση «Agora», που υιοθετείται αυτή τη στιγμή στην ταράτσα του κτιρίου SPEL, να την φανταστεί ως έναν αστικό κήπο και να εκφραστεί δημιουργικά στα θέματα της βιωσιμότητας και της κοινωνικής και καλλιτεχνικής καινοτομίας. Μια συμμετοχική δραστηριότητα φύτευσης θα μετατρέψει την αρθρωτή και κινητή κατασκευή της Αγοράς σε μια προσωρινή πράσινη όαση και θα επιτρέψει την καλλιέργεια νέων συζητήσεων και την αναζήτηση νέων γόνιμων ευκαιριών στις ταράτσες μας. Η φύτευση θα ξεκινήσει στις 16:00 και από στις 18:00 θα γίνει συζήτηση μεταξύ μιας διεπιστημονικής ομάδας καλεσμένων και του κοινού.

SAT 28/10 20:30 "IOLI - ΑΛΛΟ ΛΙΟ" LIVE - "STRANGER IN THE BODY" LIVE
Το "ΑΛΛΟ ΛΙΟ" είναι το τρίτο άλμπουμ του καλλιτέχνη IOLI (fka RAW SILVER) και μετά από τρία χρόνια προετοιμασίας είναι έτοιμο να κυκλοφορήσει. Περιλαμβάνει ζωντανούς ηλεκτρονικούς ήχους, τσέλο, κιθάρα, σαξόφωνο και τις φωνές πέντε καλλιτεχνών της τοπικής σκηνής.
Οι "Stranger in the body" είναι ένα συγκρότημα που δημιουργήθηκε το 2022 από τον τραγουδιστή/συνθέτη Cievil Momo και τον μουσικό παραγωγό Kalaqs. Με ζωντανούς ηλεκτρονικούς ήχους, ακουστικά & ηλεκτρικά όργανα, συνδυάζουν γρήγορα beats και πειραματικούς τρόπους αφήγησης, υπερβαίνοντας τα όρια της γλώσσας.

SAT 7/10 20:30 Being the cat on the edge of the roof (Nurtane Karagil)
Nurtane Karagil invites us on SPEL’s roof, the Cloud, to react to our thoughts and challenges much like a cat perched on the precipice of a rooftop.
Nurtane Karagil is a visual artist using a wide range of artistic mediums such as painting, illustration, sculpture, video and photography. Her art conceptualises the power of memory, dreams and surreal fantasies in juxtaposition with everyday life situations. Through this contrast, she invites the viewer to an uncanny zone where the edges of reality are somewhat sharper. The event is part of the activities curated by the Urban Gorillas within the framework of the European Creative Rooftop Network project co-funded by the Creative Europe Program.

Queer Wave’s artistic director Diego Armando Aparicio in collaboration with Sessions’ Cerebral Gym, curated by Loizos Olympios, will showcase a series of films that serve as tools for creating archives - real, imaginary, organised, messy. The Queer Wave x Cerebral Gym screenings will run during October, November and December 2023. Screenings will take place on the first Wednesday of each month, for a total of three iterations, on the dates: 11 Oct / 8 Nov / 13 Dec.

As Sessions complete their first orbit around the sun since their opening at Sapfous 6, we invite you to a special birthday celebration of the mischievousness and enchanting magic that brought us together. Taking inspiration from Loizos Olympios' statement that "ALL MUSIC IS DANCE MUSIC", the phrase becomes a guiding principle to curate unique DJ sets a special performance by Michela Pelusio, Space Time Helix, and a birthday ritual by Garilyn Monrose and Korallida.
SpaceTime Helix, an optoacoustic instrument conceived and executed by Michela Pelusio since 2012, delivers a site-specific audiovisual spectacle featuring a colossal rotating standing wave within a white string, shaping an expansive helicoid extending towards the ceiling. The surface, luminous and translucent, showcases waves traversing it, vanishing into the distant reaches of the future across space and time. A white string, once a mere line and boundary, metamorphoses into a monumental, spinning standing wave, an immense helicoid uniting the terrestrial realm with the celestial. It orchestrates a dance of vibrations, entwining the physical and metaphysical, inducing the persistence of visual impressions and synesthetic voyages for those ensnared within its whirlwind.

"Legally Queer" is a dedicated initiative focused on exploring the legal landscape's impact on Cyprus' LGBTQI+ community. Our mission is to empower LGBTQI+ individuals by providing accessible insights into the legal issues affecting our daily lives and fundamental rights. Through informative discussions, we aim to foster awareness, address common challenges, and build connections within the community.
Our initiative goes beyond legal matters; it creates a space for LGBTQI+ individuals to connect and share experiences. By coming together, we can build a collective consciousness, highlighting shared struggles and triumphs. Through these interactions, we aspire to cultivate a stronger sense of unity and solidarity within the community. "Legally Queer" ultimately strives to facilitate open conversations, promote awareness, and strengthen the bonds that tie us together as LGBTQI+ individuals in Cyprus.

SAT 28/10 17:00 Rooftop Stories: Reimagining Sustainable Urban Living (Urban Gorillas)
The Urban Gorillas invite the public to interact with the spatial installation “Agora”, which is currently adopted on the rooftop of the SPEL building, and reimagine it as an urban garden and creatively express themselves on the themes of sustainability, social and artistic innovation. A participatory planting activity will transform the modular and mobile structure of Agora into a temporary green oasis and will allow the cultivation of new conversations and the search for new fertile opportunities on our roofscape. The planting will start at 16:00 and from 18:00 a discussion will be facilitated between an interdisciplinary team of guests and the audience.
*This event is part of the activities of Urban Gorillas within the framework of the European Creative Rooftop Network project which is co-funded by the Creative Europe Funding Program as well as the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth.

“IOLI - ΑLLO LIO” LIVE – “STRANGER IN THE BODY” LIVE
“ALLO LIO” is the third album by artist IOLI (fka RAW SILVER) and after three years in the making it’s ready to be presented to you. It features live electronics, cello, guitar, saxophone and the voices of 5 local acts.
“Stranger in the body” is a band formed in 2022 by vocalist/songwriter Cievil Momo & music producer/ multi-instrumentalist Kalaqs. Working with live electronics, acoustic & electric instruments, they combine fast beats with experimental ways of narration without being limited in one language.
